Dentistry

Dental health is an important aspect of your pet’s health. Did you know 4 out of 5 dogs will have some degree of dental disease by age 5? Dental disease is often overlooked by many people, and there are several options to keep those teeth clean. Here at the clinic we have a human grade dental equipment that includes a diamond drill and scaler/polisher. We have performed hundreds of procedures over the years. Dental disease can cause serious consequences for your pet’s health. Our nurses are happy to check your pet’s teeth at no charge if you have concerns about bad breath.

Acupuncture

We are fortunate enough to have a qualified Naturopath on staff, Grant Parsons. Acupuncture can be very beneficial for patients with arthritis, joint issues and geriatric patients. Grant also teaches you how to maintain the health benefits of acupuncture, with acupressure massage that you can continue at home.

Euthanasia & Grief Counselling

Euthanasia & Grief Counselling

It is always difficult to lose a family member, and we know how hard it is to make that decision, or to suffer an unexpected loss. We pride ourselves in our calm, reassuring euthanasia procedure and do our best to make the experience as peaceful as possible.

If a patient is suffering a terminal disease we offer high quality palliative care that ensures that your pet will have their pain controlled. Our euthanasia service is especially important to us. Our policy is that we do not euthanase healthy animals. When that time comes, our staff will support you through it before, during and after. Catherine also offers grief counselling at no charge.

The Animal Welfare League take care of our cremations, and we are proud to support the work they do to rehome animals. There are a few options regarding cremation, so if it is something you would like more information about, please give us a call.

Nutrition

Advanced-Canine-Food

Nutrition

Here at the clinic we use and recommend Royal Canin, Advance and Hills Science Diet. Nutrition is something we are very passionate about, as it can make the world of difference to your pet’s health. The practice emphasises the importance of Preventative Health Care and Nutrition. Our mantra is that healthy food does NOT have to be expensive. Animals on a good diet thrive, their hair coats shine, and they live longer, more active lives.

Wildlife

Wildlife

We offer appropriate medical care to any injured wildlife that comes to our practice. We work closely with the Native Animal Network to rehabilitate and rehome wildlife that come into our care.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

We provide necessary vaccinations to ensure your pet is protected against any major diseases. When you book a vaccination appointment, our price also includes a complete physical health check. We use the best vaccines on the market to date, because we believe that price is no comparison to a healthy, happy pet.

With every new puppy or kitten visit, we spend some extra time with you (at no extra cost) to provide you with all the advice you need to help your new pet settle in quickly, and become a lifelong member of the family.

Speys & Castrations

Speys & Castrations

We believe de-sexing is imperative to any non-breeding animal for health and behavioural reasons. Our prices are competitive to allow many owners to afford this essential procedure. All animals that see us for a desexing procedure are given appropriate pain relief and an Elizabethan collar. We believe that all animals should receive the highest standard of veterinary care, with appropriate pain relief always provided.

General Wellness Checks

General Wellness Checks

Every consult includes a thorough general wellness physical exam. We recommend a health check (included in our vaccinations) every year for younger animals, and every 6 months for elderly patients. Health checks are very important in assessing how your pet feels, physically and mentally, and addressing any problems that may arise.

Catherine has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complicated medical cases including: Addison’s  and Cushing disease, diabetes, kidney and liver disease. We have successfully treated hundreds of serious skin conditions. We understand that an itchy animal can be more distressed than a painful animal.

Please contact us if you would like a second opinion on your pet.

Puppy Preschool

Puppy Preschool is an important part of a young dog’s life. It is not just to provide information to you, the owner, but to provide socialisation skills, help your puppy get used to other people, other dogs, and unfamiliar situations. Puppy Preschool is for puppies that are between 8-12 weeks of age, and that have had their first vaccine. Please give us a call if you are interested in attending.

In-House Biochemistry Blood Analyser

Here at the clinic we have the latest Biochemistry blood analyser which provides results in 12 minutes, compared to 24 hours from external veterinary analysers. Surgery Suite

Surgery-Suite

Surgery Suite

We have recently upgraded our surgical suite, which includes a hydraulic table, anaesthetic and oxygen machine, human grade dentist equipment, IV Fluid pumps and an X-ray unit. This is where we perform our sterile surgeries. We take the health and safety of your pet and our staff very seriously, and use the highest hygenic practices in all of our surgeries. All of our surgical instruments and linens are autoclaved before use, to minimize the risk of infection and to ensure your pet has the best standard of care. Our team are experienced in all types of soft tissue surgery such as exploratory abdominal surgery, bladder surgery and wound repair.

All patients that undergo a general anaesthesia for surgery receive the following:

intravenous fluids, gas anaesthetic – not injectable anaesthetic alone as that can be unsafe, intubation with an endotracheal tube to maintain the animal’s airway, and pain medication. This protocol helps ensure that your pet’s surgery and anaesthetic recovery are problem free. Basic orthopaedic procedure are performed here, however, difficult cases are generally referred to Specialist practices.

Here at the clinic we use an Isotec Isoflorane Gas Vaporizer, which provides the safest anaesthetics possible for your pet. Our anaesthetic monitoring equipment includes a Capnograph that constantly monitors heart rate, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels during surgery. All of our nurses have received advance training in anaesthetics.
